Notre Dame’s women’s tennis team won its third consecutive match with a 4-2 victory over Wake Forest on April 3.

The win brings Notre Dame’s record to 15-7 overall and 5-6 in conference play, while Wake Forest falls to 10-11 overall and 2-7 in the conference. The result highlights Notre Dame’s continued momentum late in the season.

In doubles play, the Irish secured two of three matches. The pair of Rawles and Hanford defeated Gownder and Oxford from Wake Forest, while Matsuno and Van Zyl overcame Blanch and Nisbet. Carton and Tannenbaum from Wake Forest managed a win against Molnar and Pozder of Notre Dame.

During singles competition, Bianca Molnar, ranked #62 nationally for Notre Dame, defeated Nevena Carton in straight sets. Akari Matsuno also earned a point for the Irish by beating Krystal Blanch decisively. Sophia Holod added another singles win for Notre Dame over Heidi Bulger after a close first set tiebreaker. Evie Oxford of Wake Forest beat Bojana Pozder, while Sankavi Gownder took another point for the hosts by defeating Rylie Hanford. The final singles match between Jessica Kovalcik (Notre Dame) and Kady Tannenbaum (Wake Forest) was left unfinished with each player having taken one set.

This victory marks an important step as Notre Dame looks to build on its current winning streak heading into upcoming matches.
