Congressman Rudy Yakym, representing Indiana’s 2nd District since 2022, shared a series of tweets addressing personal and community matters. Born in 1984, Yakym resides in Granger and is an alumnus of Indiana University South Bend. His recent tweets reflect on a colleague’s passing, the impact of blood donation, and healthcare discussions.

On March 13, 2025, Congressman Yakym expressed his condolences following the death of Representative Raul Grijalva. “Sallyann and I are deeply saddened by the passing of @RepRaulGrijalva. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

The following day, March 14, 2025, Yakym highlighted the importance of blood donation through a personal story. He recounted how his friend Mike survived a severe accident due to blood donors’ generosity. “Five years ago, my friend Mike survived a horrific accident thanks to the generosity of blood donors. Today, I’m honored to join him in paying it forward. Every donation has the power to save a life—just like his.”

Later that afternoon on March 14, Yakym met with leaders from St. Joseph Health System to discuss healthcare access in rural Indiana communities. “Great to visit with the leadership of St. Joseph Health System this afternoon and discuss the importance of access to healthcare in rural communities throughout Indiana.”
