Today, Congressman Yakym (IN-02) cast his vote in favor of House Resolution 516. The resolution condemns the violent riots that took place in Los Angeles, California, and expresses support for law enforcement officers.

In a statement, Rep. Yakym commented on the situation: “Burning cars, attacking law enforcement, and looting businesses is not peaceful protesting.” He further criticized the response to the riots, saying, “What we saw during the LA riots is exactly what happens in a Democrat-run sanctuary city.”

Rep. Yakym pointed out the political divide over the resolution by noting that “nearly 200 Democrats voted against condemning this violence and protecting public safety.” He contrasted this with his view of party roles: “While Republicans are the party of law and order, Democrats are the party of lawlessness and criminal aliens.”
