Snyder Named Naia All-American
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced the 2023 Men’s Basketball All-America teams Tuesday afternoon. Tommy Snyder from Holy Cross College was named to the NAIA Men’s Basketball All-America Honorable Mention team. Snyder was only one of two freshmen in the nation to be named All-Americans. He also garnered numerous Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference accolades, including Conference Freshman of the Year, as well as being awarded to the All-Freshman Team and First Team All-Conference.
Snyder, from South Bend, Indiana, led the Saints to a 14-14 regular-season record. Holy Cross earned a bid to the 2022-2023 CCAC postseason tournament.
Snyder appeared in 28 games this season with 23 starts. He was the leading scorer for the Saints at 20.3 points per game, which was third-best in the conference. The 6’6 forward recorded a team-best 8.6 rebounds per game, while also shooting 60% from the field. The freshman recorded 11 doubles-doubles on the year and ranked in the top-10 in five statistical categories in the league. Snyder’s best statistical game came in the win at Cardinal Stritch University, where he recorded a double-double with 34 points and 15 rebounds.
Snyder is the third Holy Cross College men’s basketball player in four years to be named an NAIA All-American. He will return for the 2023-2024 season and look to be key piece of the Saints’ men’s basketball program for years to come.
