The Notre Dame baseball team defeated Stanford 10-7 in a come-from-behind victory on May 2, securing their second consecutive win in the series.
The game was notable for its dramatic shifts, as Notre Dame overcame an early deficit to clinch the win. The result matters for both teams as it impacts their records and momentum heading into the final game of the series.
Notre Dame took an early lead in the first inning, but Stanford responded with three runs in the second and continued to build their advantage through the fourth inning. Despite trailing by four runs at one point, Notre Dame narrowed the gap with key hits from Mark Quatrani and Andrew Graham. The team tied and then overtook Stanford in a pivotal eighth inning, highlighted by Jamie Zee’s triple and Quatrani’s double that drove in multiple runs.
Pitching contributions came from several players including DJ Helwig, who started strong with two strikeouts; Dylan Singleton, who held Stanford scoreless over several innings; Oisin Lee, who earned the win; and Noah Rooney, who closed out his second save of the weekend by retiring all three batters he faced.
Quatrani led Notre Dame offensively by going 4-for-5 with four runs batted in. Other contributors included Graham (2-for-4), Zee (triple, RBI), Passo, Jayce Lee and Logan (each with a hit and RBI). The Irish improved their record to 23 wins and will face Stanford again on Sunday at home.
