The Notre Dame men’s tennis team has secured a place in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, according to an April 27 announcement. This marks the program’s 29th appearance in the tournament over the past 36 years.
The Fighting Irish, ranked #23 with a season record of 21-7, will travel to Champaign for the first two rounds hosted by #14 seed Illinois. In their opening match, Notre Dame will face #24 Vanderbilt (17-12). Should they advance, they will compete against either Illinois (22-7) or Yale (16-9). The final dates and times for these matches are yet to be confirmed.
Notre Dame previously defeated both Illinois and Yale earlier this season. The last meeting between Notre Dame and Vanderbilt occurred during the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament, where Notre Dame lost by a narrow margin of 3-4.
This spring season was notable for Notre Dame as they achieved their first campaign with at least 20 regular-season wins since 2007. The team also posted its best conference finish—third place—and best Atlantic Coast Conference record at nine wins and four losses since joining ahead of the 2013–14 season. Additionally, they reached the ACC Tournament semifinals for only the second time in program history.
Sebastian Dominko and Perry Gregg have led the team as All-ACC honorees this year. Dominko recorded a singles mark of 14-4 this spring and an overall record of 23-7, including ten victories against ranked opponents. Gregg led with a dual singles record of 16-3 and achieved an overall tally of 26-7 on the year.
Coach Ryan Sachire will make his seventh appearance leading Notre Dame in tournament play since taking charge; his all-time coaching record at NCAAs stands at three wins and six losses.
