The University of Notre Dame softball team secured the eighth seed in the Atlantic Coast Conference Softball Championships, according to a May 4 announcement.

The team’s placement comes after a six-game winning streak and an improved performance late in the season. The Irish will play ninth-seeded Georgia Tech on Wednesday, May 6 at 11:00 a.m., with the game broadcast on ACC Network. The winner of this matchup will advance to face top-seeded Florida State on Thursday.

Notre Dame was initially projected to finish eleventh in the ACC preseason poll but surpassed expectations by climbing to eighth place in the final standings. This improvement followed five wins out of their last six conference games, including a sweep over Boston College.

Under second-year head coach Kris Ganeff, Notre Dame recorded eleven conference victories this season—four more than during her first year leading the program.

Looking ahead, Notre Dame’s recent momentum may provide an advantage as they enter tournament play.
