The University of Notre Dame softball team will close out its regular season with two midweek games at Melissa Cook Stadium, according to an April 27 announcement. The Irish are set to play against the University of Illinois Chicago on Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. on ACCNX, followed by their final game against DePaul University at 6:00 p.m., which will be broadcast nationally on ACC Network.
These matchups come as Notre Dame rides a four-game winning streak and has won six of its last seven contests. The team recently completed its first sweep of the season over Boston College, ending conference play with a decisive 10-2 victory in five innings.
Notre Dame holds a strong record against UIC, having won 21 out of their 30 meetings and boasting a 7-1 advantage when playing at home. Last year, the Irish secured a narrow win over UIC with Brianne Weiss earning her first career save. In recent history, Notre Dame has taken victory in eleven of the past thirteen games between these teams.
Against DePaul, the series is more closely contested. Since their first meeting in 1989, Notre Dame trails slightly in head-to-head results but claimed an emphatic win last year by defeating DePaul 8-0 in six innings; Kami Kamzik pitched two scoreless innings to close that game.
Tuesday’s game will also feature “Taylor Swift Night,” where fans can participate in making friendship bracelets before enjoying Taylor Swift songs during the event. Admission remains free for all regular season home softball games.
