The No. 1 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s lacrosse team will travel to Durham, North Carolina, for their last road game of the regular season against No. 16/15 Duke at Koskinen Stadium at noon ET on Saturday, April 18. The Atlantic Coast Conference matchup will be broadcast on ESPNU.
This game is significant as it marks a key test before postseason play and continues a longstanding rivalry between two nationally recognized programs.
Saturday’s contest will be the 35th all-time meeting between Notre Dame and Duke, with the Irish holding an overall series lead of 18-16. Notre Dame has won each of the last seven matchups and eight of the past nine since the start of the 2021 season. In their previous meeting during last year’s regular season, Notre Dame defeated Duke by a score of 14-7 at Arlotta Stadium.
The Fighting Irish have performed strongly against ranked opponents recently, boasting a record of 28-8 versus ranked teams since early 2023. Sixteen wins were by margins of five goals or more, and they are currently undefeated (5-0) against ranked teams this season—including four victories over top-ten opponents such as North Carolina, Richmond, Georgetown, and Ohio State.
Defensively, Notre Dame enters this weekend allowing just over eight goals per game—ranking fourth nationally and first in the ACC—and recently held UNC to only five goals in a win that also saw standout defensive performances from players like Schwitzenberg and Thomas Ricciardelli. Offensively, they average more than thirteen goals per contest while ranking among national leaders in points per game and assists.
Head coach Kevin Corrigan continues to make history with his tenure at Notre Dame; he holds an overall coaching record of 378-181 across forty seasons—including thirty-eight seasons with the Irish—and is recognized as one of only four active Division I coaches to reach three hundred career wins.
