The No. 15/19 Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s lacrosse team defeated the Liberty Flames, 21-7, on April 6, marking their fifth consecutive win. The game saw Notre Dame improve to an overall record of 11-3 and a conference record of 5-3.
This result highlights the team’s strong performance this season, as it is the fourth time they have scored at least 20 goals in a game and the eleventh time they have held an opponent to single-digit goals. Junior Kate Timarky led the Irish with six goals and four assists for a career-high ten points, converting all six of her shots.
Timarky’s recent form has been notable; after scoring six goals against Virginia Tech in the previous game, she now has twelve goals and seventeen points over her last two outings. She ranks second in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for total goals this season with fifty-two and is among the top fifteen nationally. Sophomore Madison Rassas also contributed significantly with six goals and two assists for eight points, just one point shy of her career high set earlier this year against Central Michigan.
Meghan O’Hare recorded her first career hat trick along with two assists. Uma Kowalski excelled at draw controls, winning fifteen out of twenty-three for Notre Dame—just one short of tying both her personal best and program record.
Defensively, Abby Lyons and Julia Carr each collected two ground balls and forced four turnovers apiece. Lila O’Brien led in ground balls with four while also forcing two turnovers. The Irish built an early lead by scoring eight unanswered goals in the first quarter before maintaining control throughout the match.
Notre Dame will next face No. 3/3 Syracuse on Saturday, April 12 at noon at JMA Wireless Dome.
