The No. 13/14 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s lacrosse team will play against Liberty University in Lynchburg on Monday, April 6 at 1 p.m., according to an announcement released April 5. The matchup continues Notre Dame’s road schedule and follows their recent series of victories.
This game is significant as Notre Dame holds a perfect record against Liberty, leading the overall series 6-0. In their last meeting on April 11, 2024, the Irish secured a decisive win with a score of 19-8 at Liberty.
Key players for Notre Dame include Kate Timarky and Maura Irish, who were both named to the Tewaaraton Watch List for this season alongside Madison Rassas. All three athletes were also recognized as IL Women Midseason All-Americans. Timarky has achieved hat tricks in ten games so far and ranks second in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with 46 goals and fourth with 58 points this season. Rassas stands fourth in the conference with forty goals.
Notre Dame enters this contest after extending its winning streak to four games by defeating Virginia Tech in a recent road game. Junior Kate Timarky led that match with six goals, while freshman Charley Bacigalupo contributed two goals and two assists. Freshman goalkeeper Ceci Patterson has also made an impact, ranking among conference leaders in goals against average and save percentage.
Other highlights from the season include dominant wins over Robert Morris (20-2) and Florida State (22-3), as well as competitive performances against top-ranked teams like Stanford and Clemson. The Irish have held opponents to single-digit scoring eight times this year.
Looking ahead, head coach Christine Halfpenny leads her squad into her fifteenth year at the helm as they prepare for another test on Monday.
