Notre Dame women’s lacrosse to face Virginia Tech Hokies on April 4

The No. 13/14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish women’s lacrosse team will travel to Blacksburg to play the Virginia Tech Hokies on Saturday, April 4 at Thompson Field. The game is set for a 1 p.m. start.

This matchup is significant as Notre Dame holds a strong record against Virginia Tech, leading the overall series 12-2. In their last meeting on April 13, 2024, the Irish secured a decisive win with a score of 20-9 at Virginia Tech.

Several Notre Dame players have achieved notable milestones this season. Kate Timarky and Maura Irish were recently added to the Tewaaraton Watch List, joining Madison Rassas who was included earlier in February. Five freshmen—Grace Maroney, Maura Irish, Charley Bacigalupo, Uma Kowalski, and Ceci Patterson—were mentioned in ILWomen Impact Freshman Early Season Rankings.

Timarky leads the team with nine hat tricks and ranks second in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) with forty goals this season. Rassas follows closely with thirty-nine goals and has earned several honors including being named to the Preseason All-ACC Team and receiving USA Lacrosse Preseason All-American recognition. Freshman goalkeeper Ceci Patterson is eighth nationally with a goals against average of 7.67.

Head Coach Christine Halfpenny enters her fifteenth year leading the program while welcoming twelve new freshmen and two new assistant coaches this season: Marina Miller and Mckenna Davis.

Notre Dame’s recent performances include dominant wins over Robert Morris (20-2) and Florida State (22-3), as well as holding opponents to single-digit scoring eight times so far this year.
