The No. 42 Notre Dame women’s tennis team split its road matches in North Carolina, defeating No. 68 Wake Forest on April 3 before falling to No. 10 NC State on April 5.
The weekend results leave the Fighting Irish with a record of 15-8 overall and 5-7 in conference play, placing them tenth in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. The team’s win over Wake Forest extended their streak to three matches before it was halted by NC State.
Against Wake Forest, Notre Dame secured the doubles point after Akari Matsuno and Mari-Louise Van Zyl won their match on court three, followed by Gabriella Rawles and Rylie Hanford clinching victory on court two. In singles play, Matsuno defeated Krystal Blanch decisively, while Bianca Molnar and Sophia Holod also earned wins for the Irish. Holod’s victory gave her a team-best thirteen dual singles wins this season.
In Sunday’s match against NC State, Notre Dame was unable to secure any points as they lost all completed matches to the top-ten-ranked Wolfpack. The doubles pairing of Rawles and Hanford was tied when their match went unfinished against a ranked opponent from NC State.
Looking ahead, Notre Dame will conclude its regular season with a senior day matchup against DePaul scheduled for April 12 at noon Eastern Time.
