Thomas Ricciardelli, Shawn Lyght, and Kevin Corrigan of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish men’s lacrosse team received major Atlantic Coast Conference honors on April 28. Ricciardelli was named ACC Goalie of the Year, Lyght was selected as ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Year, and Corrigan earned ACC Coach of the Year.
These awards highlight individual and team achievements for Notre Dame in this year’s conference competition. The recognitions are based on votes from league coaches.
Ricciardelli became the second Notre Dame player to win ACC Goalie of the Year since its creation in 2023. He leads the conference in save percentage at 59.1 percent and goals against average at 8.06, ranking among the top five nationally in both categories. He has posted a save percentage above .500 in nine out of eleven games this season and recorded a season-high seventeen saves against Duke.
Lyght received Co-Defensive Player of the Year for a second consecutive year, marking Notre Dame’s eighth time winning this award since it began in 2012. He joins Matt Landis and Liam Entenmann as one of only three players to earn multiple Defensive Player of the Year honors in league history.
Corrigan was named Coach of the Year for guiding Notre Dame to an ACC regular season title with a ten-win, one-loss record. The team secured four victories over top-five ranked opponents during regular play, each by at least four goals.
Notre Dame also tied for most All-ACC Team selections with four players: Ricciardelli, Lyght, Will Donovan, and Matt Jeffery were honored. Donovan became just the third player from Notre Dame to be named All-ACC all four years and is now also recognized as the first long-stick midfielder (LSM) in league history to achieve this distinction across four seasons. Jeffery earned his first All-ACC honor after being named last year’s Freshman of the Year.
The Fighting Irish will begin postseason play at Charlotte with an ACC Tournament semifinal match against Virginia scheduled for Friday, May 1.
