Later that day, Yakym attended a memorial service honoring police officers. He expressed gratitude towards law enforcement by stating: “It was an honor to join the Elkhart Police Department this evening for their Peace Officer Memorial Service. Our men and women in blue put their lives on the line everyday to protect our communities. I am so grateful for their selfless sacrifice.”
