Bethel University Names New Vice President for Enrollment Management
Amanda Slaughter has been named vice president for enrollment management at Bethel University, beginning her new role May 23.
Slaughter is an enrollment management professional with more than 18 years of experience in higher education, working with undergraduate traditional, nontraditional and graduate students through enrollment, financial aid, career services and student retention at CCCU (Council for Christian Colleges and Universities) institutions in California, Pennsylvania and Mississippi.
In her most recent role as associate vice president of university enrollment at Biola University, in La Miranda, Calif., she has led and developed a large team of 90+ professionals and 130+ student workers. She received a Regional Service Award from the North American Coalition for Christian Admissions Professionals and has led professional development workshops at national conferences.
“Amanda Slaughter is one of the top enrollment specialists for Christian higher education in our country.
Her experience will complement the already strong enrollment staff at Bethel. As the first person of color to sit on Bethel’s cabinet, Amanda’s influence on Bethel’s campus will be immeasurable. I’m thrilled to bring her to our campus in my first year as president,” says President Barbara Bellefeuille, Ed.D.
At Biola, Slaughter was responsible for the recruitment and admission of all incoming students, including traditional undergraduate, graduate and online students, with an enrollment of more than 6,000.
There, she produced a 2% increase in traditional enrollment and exponentially exceeded revenue goals in graduate and online programs.
She also was responsible for enrollment marketing efforts to prospective students and applicants for all degree programs, managing a database of more than 60,000.
Additionally, Slaughter partnered with the advancement office for student scholarship fundraising, recently raising $3 million in COVID-19 relief scholarships.
She also served as a member of the President’s Administration Council, Enrollment Management Leadership Group and the Digital Learning Leadership Team for Biola, as well as chaired several university-wide committees and task forces.
Slaughter is a graduate of Biola University with a B.A. in Journalism, Public Relations Emphasis, and minor in Biblical Studies.
She earned her master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs Concentration, at Geneva College.
She has continued her education with the Multi-Ethnic Leadership Development Institute, Council of Christian Colleges and Universities (2015) and Summer Institute for Reconciliation at Duke University (2010).
She is married to Andrew, a therapist, and they have one son together named Jonathan who is 11 years old.
“I am honored to join Bethel University during this exciting time of building strong momentum. Higher education is at a point of transition and requires leaders to think differently and lead strategically.
Dr. Bellefeuille is that type of leader; she is nationally-known in Christian higher education and is strategically building momentum at the Bethel,” Slaughter says.
“The chance to work under her leadership, at a stellar university with a family atmosphere, is an opportunity I could not pass up.
As I transition into my new role, I plan to listen and learn alongside community members across the University and bring more awareness to all the great things Bethel has to offer, with Christ at the helm.”
Slaughter will lead Bethel University teams in Traditional Admissions, Adult & Graduate Studies Admissions, Financial Aid, and Enrollment Marketing.
