Congressman Rudy Yakym of Indiana's 2nd District released a statement following the release of 20 hostages who had been held by Hamas for two years. The release occurred after Israel and Hamas agreed to the first phase of President Trump's Middle East peace plan.

Yakym stated, "Today marks a new dawn for the Middle East and the world. After two horrific years in Hamas’ captivity, the hostages are finally home.

"President Trump’s unwavering commitment to pursue peace against all odds and his steadfast leadership have shown that peace is not merely a dream but a reality that renews our faith in humanity and reminds us that hope can prevail even in the darkest times.

"Because of his leadership, the world is a safer and more united place. Blessed are the peacemakers. God bless Israel, and God bless the United States of America."

Rudy Yakym has represented Indiana's 2nd District in Congress since 2022. He was born in 1984 and lives in Granger. Yakym earned both an associate's degree in 2009 and a bachelor's degree in 2011 from Indiana University South Bend.
