144 coaches at institutions in St. Joseph County earned $137,054 on average in 2022

St. Joseph County’s 144 coaches earned an average salary of $137,054 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fourth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Indiana post-secondary schools during 2022.

St. Joseph County is home to four post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, University of Notre Dame stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $714,413.

Male coaches of men's teams received $505,437 on average in St. Joseph County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $122,353.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
