Washington, D.C. – On Apr 20, 2023, Congressman Rudy Yakym (IN-02) issued the following statement after voting for H.R. 734, the Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act; legislation that passed the U.S. House of Representatives today:

“One of the biggest lies the far-left is telling today is that basic biology can and should be ignored in order to promote a political agenda.

“We see this in the far-left’s push to erode women’s sports by allowing biological males to compete on the same playing fields and use the same locker room facilities as females. As the father of two young daughters who play sports, this approach deeply concerns me, and it’s causing young women and girls across America to lose out on trophies, scholarships, and athletic opportunities that they deserve.

“We can treat all individuals with dignity and respect while also protecting women’s sports from a destructive and radical ideology not rooted in reality. This important legislation helps achieves those objectives, and I am proud to support it.”
