On March 6, 2025, Congressman Yakym expressed joy in informing students about their acceptance into United States Military Academies. He extended congratulations to Rick for being accepted into the Air Force Academy, stating "One of the best parts of my job is sharing the news with students that they’ve been accepted into a United States Military Academy. Congratulations, Rick, on your acceptance to the Air Force Academy! We are so proud of you".
The following day, March 7, 2025, he highlighted his support for veterans by meeting with members of the Indiana Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). In his tweet, he mentioned "We owe our veterans a debt of gratitude that we can never repay. Enjoyed meeting with Indiana VFW members and reiterating my full support for all those who served!".
