Congressman Rudy Yakym, who has represented Indiana’s 2nd District in the U.S. Congress since 2022, recently used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government shutdown and highlight economic developments in his district.
On October 20, 2025, Yakym criticized Democratic lawmakers for their actions during the government shutdown. He wrote, "Day 20, and Democrats just voted for the 11th time to keep the government shut down. After weeks of lies and political games, it’s time they stop playing politics and start doing right by the American people."
The following day, Yakym welcomed a visitor to his district, stating on October 21, 2025: "Enjoyed having @apalmerdc in the Manufacturing Capital of America for a discussion on the exciting investment and innovation happening right here in the Second District."
Later that same day, he reiterated his stance regarding the shutdown with another post: "This shutdown has always been about politics over people for the Democrats, and here it is plain as day."
Yakym was born in 1984 and resides in Granger. He earned both an associate's degree (2009) and a bachelor's degree (2011) from Indiana University South Bend. The congressman has focused part of his recent communications on local economic activity as well as national political disputes.
