Congressman Rudy Yakym, who has represented Indiana's 2nd District in the U.S. Congress since 2022, recently shared his thoughts on upcoming legislative activities and national observances through a series of tweets. Yakym, born in 1984 and currently residing in Granger, graduated from Indiana University South Bend with both an AS and a BS degree.

On May 12, 2025, Congressman Yakym tweeted about the impending markup by the House Ways and Means Committee of significant legislation referred to as "One, Big, Beautiful Bill." He expressed his eagerness to collaborate with colleagues to provide substantial tax relief for various American stakeholders. "Tomorrow, @WaysandMeansGOP will mark up a key piece of legislation of the 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill.' I look forward to working with my colleagues to deliver meaningful, lasting tax relief for American families, manufacturers, businesses, and workers. Let's get it done"

The following day, on May 13, 2025, Yakym acknowledged National Police Week by honoring fallen officers and expressing gratitude towards those serving communities daily. "During #NationalPoliceWeek, we honor the fallen who gave their lives in service and thank every officer who bravely protects our communities every day."

Later that same day, he highlighted the achievements of the 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act while warning against allowing its provisions to expire. He emphasized its positive impacts such as increased paychecks and investments along with tax cuts for small businesses. "The 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act: Raised paychecks Boosted investment Cut small business taxes Incentivized companies to stay in America Doubled the child tax credit Letting them expire = a tax hike on hardworking Hoosiers & families. We won’t let that happen."
