Congressman Rudy Yakym introduces telecommunications act targeting foreign adversaries

Rudy Yakym, a Congressman representing Indiana's 2nd District since 2022, recently shared several updates on social media. Born in 1984 and currently residing in Granger, Yakym has been an active participant in legislative matters and community affairs.

On May 20, 2025, Congressman Rudy Yakym announced the introduction of the SECURE American Telecommunications Act. He stated that the act aims to hold adversaries like China and Russia accountable for any attacks on the United States' submarine cable network. According to his tweet, "If they attack our submarine cable network, they’ll face serious consequences! It’s time we protect our national security and put America First."

The following day, May 21, 2025, Yakym expressed condolences over the passing of Congressman Gerry Connolly. In his tweet, he mentioned that both he and Sallyann were saddened by Connolly's death and admired his decades of service to Virginia. He added that they are keeping Connolly's family and friends in their thoughts and prayers.

Later on May 21, Yakym showed enthusiasm for legislative progress with a brief statement about advancing a bill. In his tweet, he wrote: "My pleasure! Now, let's get our 'One, Big, Beautiful Bill' to the floor!"

Rudy Yakym graduated from Indiana University South Bend with an Associate degree in 2009 and a Bachelor of Science degree in 2011.
