On June 10, 2025, Congressman Rudy Yakym of Indiana's Second District welcomed Bellamy Gratrix, a student from Bremen High School and winner of the district's Congressional Art Competition, to the Capitol. The event highlighted her artwork titled "Truly Being Free."
Congressman Yakym expressed his admiration for Gratrix's achievement, stating, “It’s a true privilege to welcome Bellamy and her family to the Capitol in recognition of this outstanding achievement. Her artwork is a shining example of the creativity and talent we’re so proud of in Indiana’s Second District. It’s an honor to see her work representing our community in the heart of our nation’s capital.”
The Congressional Art Competition was established in 1982 to acknowledge the artistic talents of high school students across various districts. Since its inception, numerous students have participated nationwide.
This year's second place went to Reese Blair from John Glenn High School for her piece "Fighters," which will be exhibited at Congressman Yakym’s Mishawaka District Office for one year. April Pressler served as the judge for this year's competition.
